Goals

Boston Bhangra's mission is working to bring the Boston-area community together in ways previously untapped. While hosting events, teaching Bhangra classes, and giving local performances are all active ways to unite the community and raise funding, our primary goal is to bring it to another level of engagement and involvement. Things such as youth conferences and a mentorship program are some of our key focuses. Such programs allow us to reach out to local middle school and high school age youths for the purpose of addressing more serious issues of identity and culture. These are consequential subjects for young adults in Boston. Open discussion, communication, mentorship, and friendship are the greatest tools to insure these issues are handled well. Furthermore we would like to close gaps in social circles that are controlled by financial status, and use this as a means to help create a greater sense of unity for everyone in the community. The members of Boston Bhangra are eager to delve into such interaction with their younger peers. It is a deeply satisfying and rewarding endeavor for our organization.

Apart from the mentorship and youth programs, Boston Bhangra is also interested in other forms of community service. Members often express interest in existing projects that the team volunteers their time and energy towards. It is a great way for us to serve our community as well as spread out mission to groups that we might not otherwise reach. Collaboration with other local organizations, both companies and fellow non-profit ventures, is something we are always inviting. Whether the commonality be in cultural growth, mentorship, or South Asian identity Boston Bhangra would love to hear about chances to pool resources, share ideas, and get involved.
