We are active in a variety of community programs including youth mentorship, Punjabi and South Asian cultural programs and events, and various workshops. The mentorship program aims to unite middle school and high school youths with members of the Boston Bhangra organization through activities that foster friendship and mutual respect. The forum would offer advice and other assistance with educational, family, and social issues that young people face everyday. Boston Bhangra was also involved in Club Passim's Culture for Kids program which teaches young children about non-American cultures, including their food, ethnic dress, and cultural dances.
Boston Bhangra is also very active in participating with other cultural organizations. We collaborate with local Indian organizations for holidays and other events. In terms of our network of peer groups, we are extremely well-connected into the international community. The group also participates in many charity events. These performances expose people to our cause and provide entertainment as well as connect various groups with each other.
A third community we consider ourselves to partake in is that of organizations based around the extended understanding of cultural diversity. There are common interests and goals we all share to promote arts and diversity in the Boston community. There is knowledge to be exchanged and all those involved can only benefit from working together.
